What Women Want Part 3:  Song of Solomon 1:3 In the blog two weeks ago we established that King Solomon obviously knew how to treat women right if his love said he was, "more wonderful than any other." (Song of Solomon 1:1 NLT) If we as men and boys want the ladies in our life to think we are more wonderful than any other we  must have three things: a personal relationship with them, pleasant hygiene, & a pleasing name. We have already taken a look at the first two things on the list, a personal relationship, and pleasant hygiene.   Today we will look at how " pleasing his name " was (Song of Solomon 1:3) In the first century a name was chosen to identify your character it wasn't something that was chosen from a book of names or because the parents say it on a sign and thought it was "cute."  Which I have to admit is why I chose my son Jackson's name.  Are you interested in what your name means?   Click on thi...

What Women Want Part 2:  Song of Solomon 1:3 In last weeks blog we established that King Solomon obviously knew how to treat women right if his love said he was, "more wonderful than any other." (Song of Solomon 1:1 NLT) If we as men and boys want the ladies in our life to think we are more wonderful than any other we  must have three things: a personal relationship with them, pleasant hygiene, & a pleasing name. We have already taken a look at the first thing on the list, a personal relationship, and today we will look at the second thing--pleasant hygiene.  In Song of Solomon 1:3, Solomon's love says his cologne or ointments smell good or pleasant . If advice from one of the wisest men to ever live isn't good enough, here is some advice from Ben in Grade 6, "Personal hygiene is very important because no-one likes to be close to a person who stinks and is dirty.  So, whoever you are and wherever you go remember:  Wash you...

What Women Want (Song of Solomon 1:1-4) I n our study to treat women right we will take an in depth look at the life of King Solomon and the Love of his life.  It was the relationship of these two people who inspired the book in the Bible called Song of Solomon.  King Solomon obviously knew how to treat women right if his love said he was, "more wonderful than any other." (Song of Solomon 1:1 NLT) or as Mel Gibson might say after his movie in 2000, "What Women Want." Attention all boys & men!  If you want the ladies in your life to think you are more wonderful than any other you must have three things: a personal relationship with them, pleasant hygiene, & a pleasing name. At first glance, these things don't seem like that big of a deal but sometimes it's the small things that make a lasting impression on a woman. There is nothing complicated in these three things, nothing exceptionally difficult. But the things on this list...

Proverbs 22:6                                                                                                        TRAIN up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. I have taken similar approaches in raising my kids (especially my boys) and teaching them to ride bikes.   When I was growing up, most parents used what I call the "running along-side" method to teach their kids how to ride a bike.  The parents would go out and buy a two wheeled bike for a special birthday or Christmas gift and give it to the child.  The child was always SUPER excited when they saw the bike sitting in the living room or garage and couldn't wait to ride it.  So ...

Welcome to my blog, I hope you enjoy what you read and pass it on to all your friends.  Over the next few months, (which will most likely turn into the next few years) I will be blogging as I iron out the words and concepts for my book on being the husband and father God has called me to be.  Do I think I am qualified to write a book like this?--NO WAY!  I am studying the words of one of the wisest men of all time, Solomon, dissecting them and trying very humbly day by day to apply them to my own marriage and family and trying to teach my boys to do the same. The wisdom of Solomon about love and marriage is recorded in the Bible but you don't have to believe in the Bible or even be "spiritual" to understand and apply these principles for a better marriage written down by someone MUCH smarter than me!   Join me on my journey to become a better man, better husband and a better father.  It may surprise you to know that as a man one of my favorite colors really ...
